On Sunday August 22, 2010, SCMS will host our annual Family Cookout and Ice Cream Social at the Cleveland Park Event Center. We would like to invite all Spartanburg County Physicians and their Family members to attend this event. Please encourage all physicians you know to attend. Ike's and Baskin Robbins will cater the event. Train rides will be available for the kids. We look forward to seeing you there. Call or email Robert at 864.216.1125 with any questions.

Annual D.C. Hull Award presented to Dr. Timothy Llewelyn

Twenty-five years ago, Dr. Tim Llewelyn began practicing medicine in Spartanburg, and he soon met one of the town's most respected doctors, D.C. Hull. Click here to read the full article.

 

2010 Legislative Forum Update

Eight of our 13 Spartanburg County delegates attended our 2010 event. Many of today's important health care topics were discussed. This was a wonderful opportunity to express our position on the many issues and we can not thank our delegates enough for taking the time to meet with us. The Piedmont Club did a wonderful job on the food. Thanks as well to Todd Atwater and the folks from SCMA for attending.

Legislative Updates

The State House and Senate overrode Governor Sanford's veto of the cigarette tax. We will add 50 cents to the current 7 cents. We also passed the "Good Samaritan Law" to protect physicians providing free medical care to the uninsured.
